Asymmetric Distribution of the Solar Photospheric Magnetic-Field Values

Understanding the characteristics of solar magnetic field is essential for interpreting activities and dynamo. In this research, we investigated asymmetric distribution photospheric magnetic-field values, using synoptic charts constructed from space-borne high-resolution magnetograms. It demonstrated that Lorentzian function describes values in much better than Gaussian should reflect gradual decay process strong to weak fields. The asymmetry are calculated under several circumstances, results generally show two periodicities related variation B0 angle cycle, respectively. We argue it small-scale fields, inclination axis, emergence evolution flux, polar fields responsible features values. further determined polar-field reversal time cycles 23 24 with flip Specifically, cycle 24, assert polarities both hemispheres reversed at same time—in 2014 March; as 23, S-hemisphere 2001 March, while determination N-hemisphere hampered by missing data.
